Hedley Contracting Ltd is a custom sawmilling business located in the small town of Waimate, South Canterbury.  We specialise in producing quality macrocarpa timber with sales extending throughout New Zealand.

“My passion for timber stems from my late father, Allan Hedley, who upon selling his 400 ha sheep farm in Waihaorunga (Waimate) in the late 1990’s and moving into town purchased his first sawmill to keep him busy.  It was a portable Woodmizer LT40 purchased through a local dealer, which a few years later was stolen from a timber yard whilst away on a job never to be seen again!  This saw him upgrade to a newer sawmill model – the Woodmizer LT70 which he imported from the United States in 2008.  Dads passion for timber and skill on the job quickly gained him a good reputation and plenty of work.  On Dads untimely passing, I took over the LT70 mill based on the skill and knowledge that Dad had passed on to me over the years……. and Hedley Contracting Ltd was born.”

Our Macrocarpa is sourced from the South Canterbury/North Otago regions and all timber is air dried at our Waimate yard.  We can freight timber anywhere within New Zealand and are happy to provide quotes for freight where necessary.

 

We welcome larger-scale orders in bulk and individual custom orders also.  We are happy to custom cut any size and quantity to order no matter how big or small.

• A high-quality band sawn finish.

• Supply of clear grades for high end users.

• Beams up to 600 mm x 600 mm.

• Lengths up to 7.5 meters.

• Slabs up to 1.4 m wide, 6 m long.

• Ability to mill off site - both mills are fully transportable.
